definitely had beets for dinner

DO NOT BE ALARMED.....i'm a professional

"I'M DYING!"
might be the first thing that comes to mind the morning after a healthy dose of beetroot.

An estimated 10-15% of all U.S. adults experience beeturia (a reddening of the urine) after consumption of beets in everyday amounts. While this phenomenon is not considered harmful in and of itself, it may be a possible indicator of a problem with iron metabolism. Individuals with iron deficiency, iron excess, or specific problems with iron metabolism are much more likely to experience beeturia than individuals with healthy iron metabolism.

from reading the above info
you can gather that these lovely
roots have a very high iron content.

they also have phytonutritions
that hold anti-imflammatory compounds.

it is a superfood LOADED with
antioxidents

contain calcium, vits A & C along with a whole lot of Folic Acid.

Folic Acid:
It is a B-complex vitamin needed by the body to manufacture red blood cells. A deficiency of this vitamin causes certain types of anemia (low red blood cell count).
more research points to this B vitamin as being in ensuring proper DNA replication.
which is why it is so important for pregnant mothers to have proper amounts.
It is essential for the synthesis of adenine and thymine, two of the four nucleic acids that make up our genes,
DNA and chromosomes. FA also required for the proper metabolism of the essential amino acid methionine that is found primarily in animal proteins.

1. Beets have ZERO trans fat and ZERO saturated fat. They are also low calorie! How's that for a food to satisfy your hunger and have the ability to satisfy a sweet tooth at the same time? You've got to love a food that meets a sugar craving and doesn't harm your body!

2. Canned beets are very inexpensive! Buy them sliced or whole and buying the store brand they will cost about 60 cents or less! Just put a few cans in the refrigerator and next time you are looking for a snack food they will be super cold and ready to eat, no dirty pots, no cooking. Just drain and enjoy with a fork!

3. Beets are high in carbohydrates which means they are a great instant energy source, but unlike processed foods which are high in carbohydrates, beets will energize your body. Beets can be regarded as body fuel.

4. Beets contain sodium, magnesium, calcium, iron and phosperous! They are also considered a fiber food and contain vitamins A and C as well as niacin! You can't beat that!

folic acid deficiency has been implicated in a wide variety of disorders from Alzheimer's disease to atherosclerosis, heart attack, stroke, osteoporosis, cervical and colon cancer, depression, dementia, cleft lip and palate, hearing loss, and of course, neural tube defects.

The health benefits of beets include anemia, digestion, constipation, piles, blood circulation, kidney disorders, skin care, dandruff, gall bladder disorders, cancer, and heart diseases.

EAT EM UP>>>JUST BRACE YOURSELF
YOU ARE NOT DYING
I PROMISE.

leadership

my cardio book of the moment is 'The Laws of Leadership'

interestingly enough, my readings today really hit home
ON TOP OF THE FACT, that i came across this article:

Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg has a message to all of the young women who want to get the corner office:

The stakes have never been higher in the debate surrounding women in the workplace. The lack of women at the top keeps coming up, and for good reason. The status quo, where men dominate the board rooms and corner offices of technology’s major companies, is unacceptable.

Sandberg, Facebook’sFacebook second-in-command and one of the most powerful women in the world, gave a rousing talk at the TED Women conference earlier this month discussing the perceptions that men and women have that are holding so many back from reaching the top.

“Women systematically underestimate their own abilities,” Sandberg stated before citing data that explained why. For example, men tend to cite themselves as the primary reason for success, while women tend to cite external factors. And 57% of men negotiate their first salary out of college, while only 7% of women do the same.

i here repetitively..."you have to slow down"
"you need more balance"
" you need to have YOU time"
and too a certain extent i agree, balance is good
BUT I WILL NOT LET UP

my ME TIME, is my work
most people dont understand that I LOOOVE WHAT I DO
and i believe that is when we can be the most successful
when work, does not feel like work at all

but you do have to put the time in
you do have to sacrifice
THE LAWS OF LEADERSHIP

what could you sacrifice daily?
what part of your life would you be dedicating it to?
for example: you wake up an hour early, to get your work out in
sacrifice an hour of sleep, to invest in your health/well being

THE LAW OF SACRIFICE: A leader must give up to go up.

Be willing to trade something of value that you posses to gain something more valuable that you dont.

In order to make sacrificial trades, an individual must have something of value to trade.
What do you have to offer?
What are you willing to trade your time, energy, and resources to get that may give you a greater personal worth?

THE LAW OF TIMING: When to lead is as important as what to do & where to go.
1. The wrong action at the wrong time leads to disaster
2. The right action at the wrong time brings resistance

understanding - grasp of the situation
maturity - if motives arent right, the timing will be off
confidence - people follow leaders who KNOW what must be done
decisiveness - wishy washy leaders create wishy washy followers
experience - without experience you must gain wisdom from those who posses it
intuition - timing depends on intangibles, such as momentum & morale
preparation - if conditions arent right, leaders must create those conditions

3. The wrong action at the right time is a mistake
4. The right action at the right time results in success

SUGAR

sugar the body uses for energy is glucose
this is attained from food....CARBS
starches, fruit, grains & in its purest form, maple syrup, table sugar, etc

as we know, sugar cause a chemical reaction in the brain
my theory is:
if you want something sweet
HAVE IT
but be smart
we dont what to cause a huge shift in our systems
you also dont want to pump your body full of chemicals that are added
to a sweetener during processing

BEST OPTIONS
natural, raw products
in small quantities

natural sugar vs refined sugar

The repeated processes of washing, boiling, centrifuging, filtering and drying, nearly all of the plant’s nutritional elements are lost. What remains in the raw sugar product is 95% sucrose along with nutritionally insignificant minerals. "Raw Sugar" is not a raw or natural product at all, but is the highly refined, nutritionally depleted, 95% sucrose product before it is even further refined. IF sanitized by steaming this "raw sugar" can be marketed as turbinado. To produce the white crystals we call table sugar, bleaching agents such as lime and carbon dioxide are added. The sugar is then further "purified" (refined) and whitened by being filtered in a water-added liquid state through beef bone char. This process removes even more minerals. Sucrose in its completely refined stage is more familiarly called table sugar. "Pure" sugar refers to chemical purity, devoid of all nutritional and other elements, and not to a wholesome quality.

The completely refined white sugar product is now over 99.9% sucrose and for all practical purposes contains no nutritional elements such as vitamins, minerals, proteins or fibers. This accounts for expressions such as "empty calories" and "junk food".

While artificial sweeteners may save on calories when compared to refined white sugar,
they offer little to no nutritional value.
In addition, there is so much controversy surrounding the safety of artificial sugar substitutes
that it's best to find more natural sweeteners.
There are safe and natural sweeteners that contain nutrients the body needs.

AU NATURAL:

Agave Syrup

Agave syrup is approximately 25 to 30 percent sweeter than sugar and has trace amounts of minerals including calcium, potassium, magnesium, and iron. Agave ranks low on the Glycemic Index, meaning it does not affect blood sugar and insulin levels as much as regular sugar. Agave is a good natural sweetener for beverages and baking.

Blackstrap Molasses

Blackstrap Molasses is approximately 65 percent as sweet as sugar and can be used in both cooking and baking. Blackstrap molasses is an excellent source of manganese and copper, and also contains iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium, and Vitamin B6.

MAPLE SYRUP

good source of magnesium and zinc.

about 60 percent as sweet as sugar.

HONEY

has powerful disease-protecting antioxidants

thought to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer.

25 to 50 percent sweeter than sugar
