endocrine system PLATEAUS

OVER TRAINING
Overtraining syndrome (OTS) and exhaustion are a
consequence of an imbalance between stress and recovery.

do you do hours and hours of cardio and take numerous classes and nothing changes?

the problem is that your body will adjust to get used to the demands placed on it

you might even GAIN weight

what should you do?

my favorite expression
TAKE A DAY OFF
-actually you prob should take more than that

my best friend in high school
and for most of the time i lived in NJ
was a very fit, active, guy's guy
sometimes referred to as a "meatball"
he can tend to get too ripped
or in my eyes...bigger than necessary
"Jay, if your neck is wider than your head, TAKE A DAY OFF."

THE BOD'S RESPONSE
Nervous System and the Endocrine System
The adaptations and performance of exercise is dependent
on the intricate links between the central nervous system
(the brain and spinal cord) and the endocrine system (the
hormonal system). Any changes in either of these will
affect performance in the muscle system. The endocrine
system in particular controls an intricate group of glands
whose hormones are vital to all aspects of life.

A natural response to increased workload is increased
levels of stress hormones. During overtraining, an
individual will create oddly high or low concentrations of
several of these hormones.

STRESS HORMONES WILL NOT ALLOW FAT TO BE RELEASED TO BE BURNED*

Two types of overtraining

a) A-overtraining (Addisonic overtraining),
involves the parasympathetic nervous
system and it is associated with diminished activity of the
adrenal glands, which prepare muscle for physical activity
in the face of stress.
This is difficult to detect early because
of the absence of any dramatic symptoms.
This is usually not diagnosed until a decrease in performance happens.

b) B-overtraining (Basedowic overtraining)
involves the sympathetic nervous
system and it is associated with thyroid hyperactivity,
affecting internal stress management and metabolism.
This is the classical type of overtraining with its abundance of symptoms.

THE SAME THING GOES FOR YOUR DIET
If you limit your calories long enough your body will adjust....especially if you are eating the wrong types of foods!

That is where "skinny fat" comes into play.

Girls that limit there intake so their bodies eat their muscle and all they are is fat and skin

YUMMERS

TREAT YOUR BODY WITH RESPECT
when you speak, you want to be heard, yes?
WHEN YOUR BODY TALKS TO YOU
LISTEN
REST, EAT WELL & BE HAPPY

if you have ever overtrained
if you have ever restricted your diet

you need to fight the plateau-
get back on track
how do you do that?
TAKE A BREAK
bring your calories back up
& tone down the exercise

you will need to slow your body down
to allow your metabolism to rev back up.

PONDER AND EMAIL WITH QUESTIONS
ONE LOVE.
