i was asked about cardio.....
is it better to do circuit training, to incorp cardio into you workout?
or dedicate a day/session to just cardio?
I SAY BOTH
when you play with your heart rate while working out
it can be your form of interval training
BUT it is necessary to do moderate long duration cardio as well
interval training can be done anywhere from 30 mins to 60 mins
while your fat burning or moderate cardio must be done with a minimum of 30 mins
this is for targeted weigh loss/changing your body comp
why does cardio seem like such a chore?
do you remember getting mad at your parents for calling you in at night
we used to run and get dirty and sweat and hang and swing without being asked to do it!
let's figure out how we can get that mentality back
back to those carefree days

WAY TOO LONG
flipping them around our bodies
like jump ropes
red light green light
kick the can
capture the flag
all these games were based or chasing and NOT getting caught
you would RUN YOUR ASS OFF for hours
and never want to stop
sweaty, grass stained kids would stumble as dusk to the smell of a home cooked meal
or if it was a friday night at the Boschen Residence it would be PIZZA NIGHT
and can i tell ya? you ain't lived til you've scarffed some serious pizza from west milford, nj's finest Vesuvio's Pizzaria
NOW i want to instill in you, that feeling again
of the world as your play ground
make exercise FUN
change it up!
there is NOTHING worse than a monotonous workout
BACK TO CARDIO options
for the NON GYM GOERS
jump ropes are are FRIENDS
you can shuttle run in between sets
use an agility ladder as a great tourture device
it's a fantastic way to get your heart rate up
there are quite a few variations of drills
change em up
do em all in one set

do a friggin jumping jack
along with your body weight workout

do a set of 30-50 in between each set you do at the gym
girls we can be kids again
they have hula hooping classes for adults
zumba dance classes are the lasted craze
we can go to a trapeze school on the weekends
ride horses, hike, mountain bike, swim,
paddle board, skate, surf, run sprints on the grass BAREFOOT!
JUST DONT let me catch you saying you GET BORED......
find a kid's playground with your friends and make a workout of it!
if you are stuck in our routine at the gym
start throwing in some cardio breaks
you can even add a multi joint exercise to raise your heart rate
MEANING DO WALKING LUNGES
